Green Weekend at Solenad, NUVALI

sent by Jen Chua

The Green Weekend at Solenad, NUVALI, was launched last March 20 with visitors from the subdivisions and offices in the south, and amazingly even families from as far as Quezon City, enjoying the fair and festivities.

This Green Weekend is a monthly organic and artisan community fair dedicated to the appreciation and protection of the environment. This celebration is part of NUVALI’s goal to redefine urban living by advocating modern lifestyle in a sustainable eco-community. It will be held every third weekend of the month.

Health and wellness enthusiasts enjoyed doing their produce shopping at the organic market as they chose items from Herbana Farms, Organic Farmers Organization from University of the Philippines Los Baños, Le Bistro Vert, Luvs Herbal Coffee & Tea, Garage Kitchen, Dielle’s Apiary, Dave's Frozen Premium Yogurt, and many more. Herbana Farms owner Gil Carandang, one of the pioneer locators of the famous Salcedo Village in Makati, also conducted an urban organic gardening talk.

In line with NUVALI’s campaign for a sustainable and health-conscious community, the vegetables sold at the market were grown without the use chemical fertilizers or genetically modified organisms, and the meat are from free-range farms, which means they are friendly to the environment and good for the health.

M Café’s renowned Chef Sau del Rosario shared his culinary expertise with food lovers in a cooking demonstration using healthy recipes for good eats.

Green was definitely “in” at the shopping bazaar as it showcased products from eco-conscious brands like Echostore, Human Heart Nature, Zen Organics, Bag Hook Lady, Ecoverde, Kutitap Aromatherapy, Nurture Spa Village, Greenterprise Home Care Products, Luminare Beauty Products, and more. Also available were handicrafts from recycled materials, fashion accessories, decorative plants and seedlings.

Aside from NUVALI’s attractions like fish-feeding and boat rides at the four-hectare lake, there were also magical acts, kite-making, photo booths, face-painting, nail art, and glitter tattoo booths in the area.

Through the Green Weekend, NUVALI is making all-organic and natural products more accessible to southerners (and even northerners!). And this event is just one of the upcoming projects in NUVALI, soon to follow are the expansion plans for Solenad retail center and an organic garden that can help promote and educate the public on good, fresh food and ingredients.

NUVALI’s Green Weekend is just one way of celebrating the earth’s blessings and encouraging social awareness. This event will not just be about brand awareness or promoting a sustainable lifestyle, it will also bring communities together. NUVALI is envisioned to be a place where people can relax and enjoy the activities and amenities with family and friends.

Be part of the green movement in NUVALI’s Green Weekend on April 17 and 18!
